Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Markus Pletz got the match started through his kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Rothen's goal looked a bit too open when Markus Pletz came free, but Christoph Köhnen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frank Hänsel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Niko Frijia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Markus Pletz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Martin Bretschneider managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baier Leverkusen's supporters rose to their feet, but Martin Bretschneider was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christoph Köhnen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Rothen booed when Baier Leverkusen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bülent Abts didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Rothen's Jürgen Holzwart in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Baier Leverkusen's goalie prevented a goal. After 24 played minutes Baier Leverkusen got a freekick which was hit by Horatio Hadeler. 25 minutes in the game, Jürgen Holzwart dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After 28 played minutes, Rothen's Karlheinz Kolter shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Niko Frijia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rothen reached it. 34 minutes into the game, Martin Bretschneider was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Baier Leverkusen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rothen the free kick. In the 34th minute, Martin Bretschneider hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 37th minute of the match Horatio Hadeler completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Horatio Hadeler a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Rothen booed when Baier Leverkusen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horatio Hadeler didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Markus Pletz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Baier Leverkusen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Markus Pletz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jürgen Holzwart in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Niko Frijia saved Baier Leverkusen from getting behind. After 47 minutes, Patrick Oliver Kurbjuweit mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Baier Leverkusen and the Rothen players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Baier Leverkusen's Patrick Oliver Kurbjuweit got a free kick in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jürgen Holzwart made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Markus Pletz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Baier Leverkusen's supporters rose to their feet, but Markus Pletz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christoph Köhnen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Markus Pletz took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Christoph Köhnen. Christoph Köhnen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Jürgen Holzwart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niko Frijia having to interfere. Mesut Knopf charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mesut Knopf the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd minute, Mesut Knopf hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Niko Frijia managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Rothen's Jürgen Holzwart fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Patrick Oliver Kurbjuweit was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 68 minutes had been played. After 69 played minutes Baier Leverkusen got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Oliver Kurbjuweit. Martin Bretschneider fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christoph Köhnen having to interfere. After recieving a nice pass, Rothen's Predrag Ackermann tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Baier Leverkusen's Mesut Knopf got a free kick in the 79th minute. The audience was convinced that Jürgen Holzwart's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niko Frijia was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. When Rothen's Jürgen Holzwart in 82 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Niko Frijia guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Niko Frijia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jürgen Holzwart, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Martin Bretschneider kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 91st minute by Jürgen Holzwart got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 92nd minute, Baier Leverkusen's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Eppo Koser fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Baier Leverkusen's Magnus Kowalski managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Frank-Ulrich Garnschröder in the 94 minute of the game. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
