Match Report
Hultrop
Spectators: 7350 (Terracing: 5500,
Seating: 1720, VIP seats: 130) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Gregor Urner took the kick off in the first half of the match. Bochum's Marc Zsack got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Hultrop's Sven Borgloh got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Toni Räthe in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ramon Rudolph prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bochum's Henrik Gotthelf proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Bochum from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Bochum's Ulf Wendt got a free kick in the 10th minute. In the 13th minute, Hans Heinz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henrik Gotthelf was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Iso Hippler. The Bochum fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when Bochum's Marc Zsack looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 22nd minute Marc Zsack shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramon Rudolph saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ramon Rudolph made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marc Zsack in the 23rd minute of play. Mark Moock hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Emmo Andrade took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 28th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ramon Rudolph. Hultrop's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 30th minute, Toni Räthe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Hultrop was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornelis Stotz to maneuver through the defense. Corvinus Ruthus kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Bochum's Emmo Andrade broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A collision led to Bochum getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Hans Heinz hit a great ball. A collision led to Hultrop getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Corvinus Ruthus hit a great ball. The Hultrop players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bochum were winning 0-1.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Toni Räthe made a kick off. Toni Räthe had several of the Hultrop's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 58 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-2 score and a disappointed Ramon Rudolph as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ramon Rudolph made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hans Heinz in the 62nd minute. Toni Räthe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hultrop's zone, Marc Zsack stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ramon Rudolph came out of the goal and Marc Zsack tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Toni Räthe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramon Rudolph read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Alex Maidorn charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Maidorn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marc Zsack sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Toni Räthe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ramon Rudolph was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Ramon Rudolph made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marc Zsack in the 83rd minute. Marc Zsack sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 90 played minutes Hultrop got a freekick which was hit by Marek Sobieray. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Ramon Rudolph successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Bochum played a much better game than Hultrop and deserved their victory. The Hultrop players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
