If Friedbert Lauterbach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The VfL Trier Revolutionäre players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Borussia Mönchengladbach were winning 0-1.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacek Hiemer in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Johannes-Markus Goldsche saved Borussia Mönchengladbach from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Björn Lembke in the 60th minute of play forced VfL Trier Revolutionäre's goalkeeper Demetrius Herlitizius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johannes-Markus Goldsche took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Friedbert Lauterbach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Although VfL Trier Revolutionäre had been in control for most of the match, Borussia Mönchengladbach still came away with the win.
