When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Jan Kubica took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Angel Friess to make any attempt to save it. Arvid Köppe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elmar Bordorf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arvid Köppe in the 19th minute of the match. Arvid Köppe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elmar Bordorf having to interfere. Bo Söhner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Ornecka Fighters's zone, Ulf Kozub stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angel Friess came out of the goal and Ulf Kozub tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Knud Lemmerz charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Knud Lemmerz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Union Mühlhausen booed when Ornecka Fighters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Knud Lemmerz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Arvid Köppe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulf Kozub sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arvid Köppe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Elmar Bordorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 47 minutes, Safet Burgmeier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ornecka Fighters's supporters crossed their fingers, but Safet Burgmeier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ulf Kozub to strike the kick off in the second half. Ulf Kozub took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Angel Friess. Angel Friess dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 61st minute, Rico Tilner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Elmar Bordorf was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. After 65 played minutes, FC Union Mühlhausen's Emil Welz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Angel Friess came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Union Mühlhausen reached it. In the 72nd match minute, FC Union Mühlhausen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toralf Abertonnen to maneuver through the defense. Arvid Köppe struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Elmar Bordorf didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ornecka Fighters. With a little luck, FC Union Mühlhausen's Elmar Bordorf got control of the ball when Safet Burgmeier tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Ornecka Fighters booed when FC Union Mühlhausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zlatan Struck didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Union Mühlhausen's Elmar Bordorf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Safet Burgmeier in the 96th minute of play.
