Fabien Mach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reto Deimann, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Edgar Hock charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edgar Hock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edgar Hock hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Alessio Hampel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Hein having to interfere. Jack Hein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessio Hampel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fabien Mach made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Erik Wachtmann sent off a good shot on target. Mario Lemmerz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ekpenyong Kovermann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 45 minutes into the match, FC Osnabrück's Dietbald Mostofizadeh sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabien Mach narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Germain 1973's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Reto Deimann 46 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Mario Lemmerz made the kick off in the second half. Reto Deimann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Fabien Mach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Reto Deimann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 61st minute Erik Wachtmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabien Mach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 63 minutes into the match, Germain 1973's goal looked a bit too open when Reto Deimann came free, but Fabien Mach reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Osnabrück's Dietbald Mostofizadeh got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of FC Osnabrück booed when Germain 1973 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Augustin didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Germain 1973 getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Ekpenyong Kovermann hit a great ball. Jack Hein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mario Lemmerz in the 89th minute of play. If Reto Deimann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. FC Osnabrück had played much better football throughout.
