With a left leg Fabien Mach saved Germain 1973 from getting behind. If Harro Graichen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 17th minute of the match Luis Lamp sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fabien Mach skillfully saved the ball. In the 18th minute Richard Kurtz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabien Mach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabien Mach took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Kurtz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
