Spectators: 5649 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tim Gottwald started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Höchstberg FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Tim Gottwald came free, but Gregor Rühle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When 1. FC Hannover's Tim Gottwald in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Höchstberg FSV's goalie prevented a goal. Kilian Reinhardt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rüdiger Räth blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Achim Pfennig having to make a save. Kilian Reinhardt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Udo Bankesch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute of the match Erik Tauer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Achim Pfennig showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 38 minutes, Markus Vonderlin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1. FC Hannover and the Höchstberg FSV players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to 1. FC Hannover getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Markus Vonderlin hit a great ball. In the 39th minute, Rüdiger Räth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Christer Gennburg hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Achim Pfennig took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rüdiger Räth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 1. FC Hannover's Tim Gottwald got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Roland Posner kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Arthur Hauschild was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 47th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kilian Reinhardt made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, 1. FC Hannover's goalkeeper Achim Pfennig had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rüdiger Räth. Rüdiger Räth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Achim Pfennig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Kilian Reinhardt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gregor Rühle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tim Gottwald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st match minute, Höchstberg FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rayk Doll to maneuver through the defense. When Tim Gottwald came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the 1. FC Hannover fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tim Gottwald couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Höchstberg FSV's Roland Posner got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Gregor Rühle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Udo Bankesch in the 65th minute of the match. Gregor Rühle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Udo Bankesch in the 70th minute of play. Achim Pfennig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rüdiger Räth in the 72nd minute of play. In the 80th minute, Janek Bodden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute of the match Stefan Malzkorn sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gregor Rühle skillfully saved the ball. When Markus Vonderlin was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 91 minutes had been played. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
