Udo Bankesch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laurence Blenkle having to interfere. After a rather tough play, 1. FC Hannover's Stefan Malzkorn got a free kick in the 16th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ingo Bruns in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Achim Pfennig saved 1. FC Hannover from getting behind. Markus Vonderlin kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Ingo Bruns fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Achim Pfennig having to interfere. If Ingo Bruns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Reudnitz FC booed when 1. FC Hannover was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christer Gennburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ingo Bruns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, 1. FC Hannover's Achim Pfennig got control of the ball when Lando Rothe tried to sneak it across the goal line. 1. FC Hannover's Achim Pfennig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Konstantin Kuhn in the 42nd minute of play. Laurence Blenkle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tim Gottwald's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tim Gottwald made a kick off. If Lando Rothe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Achim Pfennig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Steenblock in the 69th minute of play. Achim Pfennig showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lando Rothe, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After 71 played minutes 1. FC Hannover got a freekick which was hit by Christer Gennburg. In the 72nd minute Ingo Bruns shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Achim Pfennig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ingo Bruns received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Achim Pfennig tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ingo Bruns sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Lando Rothe came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Reudnitz FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lando Rothe couldn't finish the play. 96 minutes into the match, Ingo Bruns notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of 1. FC Hannover's Achim Pfennig. Achim Pfennig was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
