Gerd Schall was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. CF Nürnberg Kickers's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A collision led to Koln 90 getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Simeon Ungerechts hit a great ball. Gerd Schall fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastian Webermann having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elmar Seckel during the 48th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 48th minute, Elmar Seckel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elmar Seckel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gerd Schall's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastian Webermann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. If Elmar Seckel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Koln 90's Sebastian Webermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elmar Seckel in the 70th minute of play. If Elmar Seckel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elmar Seckel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Sebastian Webermann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in CF Nürnberg Kickers's zone, Immo Blech stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hans Süßmann came out of the goal and Immo Blech tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 78 minutes into the match, Keith Suchanek had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hans Süßmann. CF Nürnberg Kickers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Keith Suchanek was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After having played for 87 minutes, Elmar Seckel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CF Nürnberg Kickers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elmar Seckel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 89 played minutes Koln 90 got a freekick which was hit by Michael Hock. Hanno Köhler took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sebastian Webermann. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gerd Schall in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Webermann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 97th minute Koln 90 were awarded a corner. Detleff Mikulasch went to the cornerflag to take it. At last the ball reached Keith Suchanek at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of CF Nürnberg Kickers. 0-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Koln 90 walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
