The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Cosimo Brenner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BVB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cosimo Brenner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ehrhard West kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Udo Ohm took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Michael Elbert. BVB's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Groß Schwülper's Nico Joseph proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Groß Schwülper from getting a goal against them. When Slaven Petzolt fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Groß Schwülper's protests and gave Slaven Petzolt a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of BVB booed when Groß Schwülper was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Slaven Petzolt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cosimo Brenner in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Nico Joseph, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Michael Elbert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Schwanitz, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. BVB's Lajos Bier got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrick Oliver Stapel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nico Joseph having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Bill Franke had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Michael Elbert. BVB's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bill Franke was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 31 played minutes BVB got a freekick which was hit by Benedetto Hangl. Groß Schwülper's Slaven Petzolt got his second yellow card of the match in the 36th minute. The referee ordered Slaven Petzolt off the ground. A collision led to Groß Schwülper getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Slaven Petzolt hit a great ball. In the 42nd match minute, Groß Schwülper was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Franke to maneuver through the defense. Udo Ohm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael Elbert having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leo Schwanitz was the one to do the kick off. Michael Elbert made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leo Schwanitz in the 52nd minute. Lajos Bier charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lajos Bier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 53rd match minute, BVB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lajos Bier to maneuver through the defense. Nico Joseph stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cosimo Brenner's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. BVB's Michael Elbert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bill Franke in the 60th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Leo Schwanitz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michael Elbert was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. With a little luck, BVB's Michael Elbert got control of the ball when Leo Schwanitz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Groß Schwülper's Nico Joseph played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Schnoor in the 69th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cosimo Brenner in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nico Joseph saved Groß Schwülper from getting behind. Cosimo Brenner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Nico Joseph tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patrick Oliver Stapel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Lajos Bier managed to get in a good position for a shot. BVB's supporters rose to their feet, but Lajos Bier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nico Joseph breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 86 minutes, Thomas Deriu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Groß Schwülper and the BVB players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. One of Groß Schwülper:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of BVB:s goal. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for BVB. Jonas Schnoor stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nico Joseph. 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cosimo Brenner in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nico Joseph saved Groß Schwülper from getting behind. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Groß Schwülper walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
