With his leg Fidel Peukert managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Schachthalden's Ewald Harm fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a little luck, FC Boss Mannheim's Fidel Peukert got control of the ball when Ewald Harm tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 27 played minutes FC Boss Mannheim got a freekick which was hit by Niels Rother. Irmin Schall's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fidel Peukert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Fidel Peukert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Irmin Schall in the 32nd minute of play. If Irmin Schall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederico Kuinke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Burkhard Avenarius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rüdiger Gil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Burkhard Avenarius might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frederico Kuinke. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frederico Kuinke came out of the goal and Rüdiger Gil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 47th minute, Burkhard Avenarius got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rüdiger Gil in the 48th minute of play forced Schachthalden's goalkeeper Frederico Kuinke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rüdiger Gil made a kick off. Burkhard Avenarius received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute.
