Mike Backhaus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudolf Pott having to interfere. Jürn Sachs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berthold Burgdorf in the 22nd minute of play. If Berthold Burgdorf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Kein Bock mehr getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Karl Bachmann hit a great ball. Arno Nemeth who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Rudolf Pott when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jürn Sachs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronald Scholz in the 31st minute of the match. Mike Backhaus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Rudolf Pott made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Berthold Burgdorf managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1.FC Nürnberg's supporters rose to their feet, but Berthold Burgdorf was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Berthold Burgdorf to make the kick off. With a little luck, Kein Bock mehr's Jürn Sachs got control of the ball when Ronald Scholz tried to sneak it across the goal line.
