The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Jürg Reuter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Bayern München's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jürg Reuter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Balder Steigert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 9 minutes into the game, Hartwig Baumann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Schattenläufer's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Bayern München the free kick. 8 minutes into the game, one of Schattenläufer:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Lothar Cakmakli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Henning Pröger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jürg Reuter in the 18th minute of play. Kaspar Bernwalder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Balder Steigert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Henning Pröger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jürg Reuter in the 27th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Schattenläufer's goal looked a bit too open when Jürg Reuter came free, but Henning Pröger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jürgen Bollwig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Henning Pröger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jürg Reuter, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Jürg Reuter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jürg Reuter to strike the kick off in the second half. If Balder Steigert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jürg Reuter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jürg Reuter struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Henning Pröger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bayern München. The audience was convinced that Jürg Reuter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henning Pröger was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Lou Jeschke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt Päzel in the 71st minute of play. Lou Jeschke made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Lothar Cakmakli sent off a good shot on target. Schattenläufer's Henning Pröger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Balder Steigert in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th minute Jürg Reuter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henning Pröger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jürgen Bollwig kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 84th match minute, Schattenläufer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jürg Recht to maneuver through the defense. In the 87th minute, Jürg Reuter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Bayern München fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Balder Steigert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jürg Reuter succeeded in the game's 95th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Bayern München fully deserved thier win.
