To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Balder Steigert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Jürg Reuter's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sven Burgschmidt was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 21st minute Jürg Reuter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven Burgschmidt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jürg Reuter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sven Burgschmidt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Balder Steigert in the 25th minute. After having played for 45 minutes, Michael Dierkes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lomersheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michael Dierkes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Max Babic was the one to do the kick off.
