Spectators: 7536 (Terracing: 5653, Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Thorsten Kunze started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, SV Gengenbach was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erhard Haye de la to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eugen Glowacz in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alf Harder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Elmar Ernst fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Harder having to interfere. SV Gengenbach's Hartmut Jägerstätter got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Richard Kurth managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when SV Gengenbach's Hartmut Jägerstätter fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 19 minutes into the match, Fc Frankenhain's goal looked a bit too open when Thorsten Kunze came free, but Richard Kurth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hartmut Jägerstätter could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Richard Kurth made a huge save. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind SV Gengenbach's goalkeeper Alf Harder, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alf Harder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugen Glowacz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the SV Gengenbach defense, Eugen Glowacz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alf Harder. The SV Gengenbach fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alf Harder should have stopped the shot. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elmar Ernst stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eugen Glowacz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Alf Harder made a huge save. With a little luck, SV Gengenbach's Alf Harder got control of the ball when Eugen Glowacz tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Eugen Glowacz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Thorsten Kunze came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the SV Gengenbach fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thorsten Kunze couldn't finish the play. Richard Kurth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hartmut Jägerstätter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Eugen Glowacz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fc Frankenhain's supporters rose to their feet, but Eugen Glowacz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alf Harder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd minute, Elmar Ernst reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alf Harder. The goal made the score 1-2. Alf Harder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elmar Ernst in the 78th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Eugen Glowacz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eugen Glowacz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Alf Harder firmly grabbed it by the left post. Fc Frankenhain played a much better game than SV Gengenbach and deserved their victory. The SV Gengenbach players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
