Lysander Kirchner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Harder having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in SV Gengenbach's zone, Serge Thieltges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alf Harder came out of the goal and Serge Thieltges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Theodor Humke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Alf Harder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ragnar Künast showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hartmut Jägerstätter, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. With a little luck, SV Gengenbach's Alf Harder got control of the ball when Remo Kühn tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Bernd Asmus managed to get in a good position for a shot. Schierenplack FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernd Asmus was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Schierenplack FSV's Theodor Humke got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 78 played minutes Schierenplack FSV got a freekick which was hit by Serge Thieltges. 83 minutes into the match, Hartmut Jägerstätter had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ragnar Künast. Schierenplack FSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hartmut Jägerstätter was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0.
