Esau Frenzle charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. SV Gengenbach's Erich Krüger shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 24th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Rudolf Breitenstein but with some difficulty. Hartmut Jägerstätter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th minute Thorsten Kunze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rudolf Breitenstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thorsten Kunze recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Esau Frenzle kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. During the 44th minute of the match Anno Ollert completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Anno Ollert a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, SV Gengenbach's Anno Ollert got a free kick in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gerhard Brenner was the one to do the kick off. Sammy Koroschetz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Alf Harder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Esau Frenzle kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the game, SV Gengenbach's Hartmut Jägerstätter nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rudolf Breitenstein made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Sammy Koroschetz scored 1-2 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alf Harder, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alf Harder, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.
