After 3 played minutes werder bremen got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Gögge. Thierry Merten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Ragnar Künast tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ragnar Künast showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albert Achtziger in the 17th minute of the match. In the 17th match minute, Schierenplack FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernd Asmus to maneuver through the defense. Albert Achtziger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ragnar Künast having to interfere. Domingo Bartels hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Carlos Eicker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Ragnar Künast tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Serge Thieltges was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ragnar Künast showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albert Achtziger in the 43rd minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albert Achtziger made a kick off. A collision led to werder bremen getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Sebastian Gögge hit a great ball. Bernd Asmus kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After having played for 56 minutes, Thierry Merten managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. werder bremen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thierry Merten was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 59th minute, Thierry Merten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The werder bremen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ragnar Künast made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thierry Merten in the 65th minute. When Thierry Merten came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the werder bremen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thierry Merten couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Schierenplack FSV's Serge Thieltges got a free kick in the 70th minute. When Sebastian Gögge came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the werder bremen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sebastian Gögge couldn't finish the play. Schierenplack FSV's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Albert Achtziger scored to the left of an out of position Ragnar Künast, making the score, 0-2. Ragnar Künast came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by werder bremen's Carlos Eicker. But to his dismay, Carlos Eicker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. A collision led to werder bremen getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Carlos Eicker hit a great ball. The supporters of werder bremen booed when Schierenplack FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabio Held didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle sounded werder bremen left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Schierenplack FSV.
