After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Karl Plaaten managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rupennest's supporters rose to their feet, but Karl Plaaten was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alf Harder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rupennest's Gismund Heidingsfelder got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Karl Plaaten who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Alf Harder when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Gismund Heidingsfelder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Karl Plaaten managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 25th minute, Rupennest's Gismund Heidingsfelder dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. When Gismund Heidingsfelder came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Rupennest fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gismund Heidingsfelder couldn't finish the play. Karl Plaaten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gismund Heidingsfelder might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alf Harder. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gismund Heidingsfelder ran back to his position shaking his head. Karl Plaaten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Alf Harder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gismund Heidingsfelder in the 47th minute of play forced SV Gengenbach's goalkeeper Alf Harder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thorsten Kunze was the one to do the kick off. Alf Harder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gismund Heidingsfelder, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Alf Harder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gismund Heidingsfelder, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute Karl Plaaten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alf Harder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 2-0 became the score in the 64th minute when Karl Plaaten elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Alf Harder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gismund Heidingsfelder in the 68th minute of play. Karl Plaaten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Alf Harder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gismund Heidingsfelder took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alf Harder. Alf Harder dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Karl Plaaten sped through SV Gengenbach's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alf Harder. Alf Harder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gismund Heidingsfelder in the 93rd minute of play. Gismund Heidingsfelder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alf Harder having to interfere.
