The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Meikel Kraienbarg during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 22nd match minute, Starbulls Rosenheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Meikel Kraienbarg to maneuver through the defense. Korbinian Zeiler's late challenge caught a Govelin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Korbinian Zeiler helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Starbulls Rosenheim getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Korbinian Zeiler hit a great ball. With a little luck, Starbulls Rosenheim's Ennio Strengmann got control of the ball when Thomas Schnappauf tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 45 played minutes Starbulls Rosenheim got a freekick which was hit by Harold Frentzen. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Starbulls Rosenheim's Ennio Strengmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Schnappauf in the 53rd minute of play. Starbulls Rosenheim's Korbinian Zeiler got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Korbinian Zeiler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ennio Strengmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudi Uedickoven, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Jakob Bostock kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Till Mieth. That made the score 0-1 in the 72 minute of play. In the 76th match minute, Starbulls Rosenheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivar Ralf to maneuver through the defense. Till Mieth was a little too slow when Tilmann Rostock got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 0-2. 83 minutes into the match, Starbulls Rosenheim's Korbinian Zeiler sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Till Mieth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Jakob Bostock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tilmann Rostock scored 0-3 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Till Mieth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Govelin fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Starbulls Rosenheim were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
