In the 15th minute, Frank Belusa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lasse Batsch was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Lasse Batsch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Belusa in the 18th minute of the match. Samir Wilhelm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Frank Belusa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the game, Frank Belusa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. The ZFC Turbine fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. The first half was very even, with the score at 3-3 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frank Belusa was the one to do the kick off. Arminia Bielefeld's Klaus Sombrutzki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louis Pulter in the 59th minute of play. Franz Zimmermann charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Franz Zimmermann the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind ZFC Turbine's goalkeeper Lasse Batsch, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Samir Wilhelm could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Lasse Batsch made a huge save. Samir Wilhelm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lasse Batsch having to interfere. ZFC Turbine's Lasse Batsch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save ZFC Turbine from getting a goal against them. Samir Wilhelm's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Lasse Batsch skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Frank Belusa came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Arminia Bielefeld fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Belusa couldn't finish the play. In the 89th match minute, ZFC Turbine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frieder Burger-Heidger to maneuver through the defense. Frank Belusa's late challenge caught a ZFC Turbine's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
