Rainer Hollinghausen struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Klaus Sombrutzki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ormont. In the 10th minute, Ole Künzer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match had gone on for 11 minutes, Frank Belusa took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ferit Petzolt to make any attempt to save it. Frank Belusa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferit Petzolt having to interfere. Eckehard Dupke struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Klaus Sombrutzki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ormont. If Eckehard Dupke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Rainer Hollinghausen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Klaus Sombrutzki was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. FC Ormont's Rainer Hollinghausen got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Klaus Sombrutzki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eckehard Dupke in the 44th minute of the match. Klaus Sombrutzki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eckehard Dupke in the 46th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Elmo Emmerich charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elmo Emmerich the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 55th match minute, Arminia Bielefeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elmo Emmerich to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Arminia Bielefeld booed when FC Ormont was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arne von Egidy didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Arminia Bielefeld getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Reimar Johnson hit a great ball. In the 65th match minute, Arminia Bielefeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hank Linn to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Arne von Egidy from long distance, 66 minutes into the match, got Klaus Sombrutzki's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rainer Hollinghausen in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Klaus Sombrutzki saved Arminia Bielefeld from getting behind. Samir Wilhelm scored 2-0 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ferit Petzolt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 72 played minutes FC Ormont got a freekick which was hit by Hubertus Paziorek. In the 79th match minute, Arminia Bielefeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franz Zimmermann to maneuver through the defense. Rainer Hollinghausen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Franz Zimmermann kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, FC Ormont's Arne von Egidy broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Eckehard Dupke struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Klaus Sombrutzki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ormont. With a little luck, Arminia Bielefeld's Klaus Sombrutzki got control of the ball when Eckehard Dupke tried to sneak it across the goal line. Franz Zimmermann kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, FC Ormont's Klaus Sombrutzki threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rainer Hollinghausen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
