Achim Schollenberger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Lasse Batsch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stephan Ellermann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 15th minute Dieter Schnitzler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lasse Batsch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kamil Zettel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lasse Batsch having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Dieter Schnitzler managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESV Fortuna Celle's supporters rose to their feet, but Dieter Schnitzler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lasse Batsch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute, Kamil Zettel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. ESV Fortuna Celle were furious when Pinkus Jungbauer was red carded, 28 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of ZFC Turbine booed when ESV Fortuna Celle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pinkus Jungbauer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, ZFC Turbine's Frieder Burger-Heidger got a free kick in the 37th minute. Kamil Zettel struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Lasse Batsch didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESV Fortuna Celle. When Balduin Püst came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the ESV Fortuna Celle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Balduin Püst couldn't finish the play. If Achim Schollenberger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in ZFC Turbine's zone, Achim Schollenberger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lasse Batsch came out of the goal and Achim Schollenberger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kamil Zettel was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, ZFC Turbine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcello Chakravorty to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 52 minutes, Kamil Zettel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ESV Fortuna Celle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kamil Zettel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Balduin Püst received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Lasse Batsch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Knut Strunck came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the ESV Fortuna Celle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Knut Strunck couldn't finish the play. ESV Fortuna Celle's Steffen Redda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oka Aicher in the 68th minute of play. 70 minutes into the game, Balduin Püst was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ESV Fortuna Celle's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ZFC Turbine the free kick. In the 70th match minute, ESV Fortuna Celle was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Balduin Püst to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute of the match Thorbjörn Port sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Steffen Redda skillfully saved the ball. Lasse Batsch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stephan Ellermann, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Balduin Püst recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Balduin Püst notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of ZFC Turbine's Lasse Batsch. Lasse Batsch was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Achim Schollenberger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute.
