The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pascal Nellessen hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manfred Königshaus during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes Molkenberg got a freekick which was hit by Manfred Königshaus. In the 8th match minute, Molkenberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manfred Königshaus to maneuver through the defense. Roberto Gerster, 9 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a rather tough play, Molkenberg's Manfred Königshaus got a free kick in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Herriehausen's Roberto Gerster broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Hannes Bresack came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Albert Dickhut could save by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pascal Nellessen during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 1-0 became the score in the 26th minute when Martin Kwast elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Martin Kwast came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Herriehausen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Kwast couldn't finish the play. After 32 played minutes Molkenberg got a freekick which was hit by Gabor Retzer. Martin Kwast struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Albert Dickhut didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Herriehausen. After 36 played minutes Molkenberg got a freekick which was hit by Claudius Rilke. Martin Kwast received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Albert Dickhut tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wilhelm Blecken came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Molkenberg's Pascal Nellessen. But to his dismay, Pascal Nellessen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Albert Dickhut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hannes Bresack, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Herriehausen's goalkeeper Wilhelm Blecken, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Sascha Beier fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Herriehausen's protests and gave Sascha Beier a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Molkenberg booed when Herriehausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sascha Beier didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Herriehausen's Wilhelm Blecken got control of the ball when Pascal Nellessen tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hannes Bresack in the 78th minute of play forced Molkenberg's goalkeeper Albert Dickhut to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Kwast sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albert Dickhut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmus Viehl, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Hannes Bresack fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Dickhut having to interfere. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Molkenberg's goalkeeper Albert Dickhut, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Albert Dickhut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florian Kobel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Herriehausen had played much better football throughout.
