A collision led to Lokomotiv USSR getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Ben Kirschner hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Lothar Hach managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportfreunde King's supporters rose to their feet, but Lothar Hach was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olaf Peekhaus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Berko Schaub recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th minute, Berko Schaub hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 10th minute, Anders Kamp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sportfreunde King's Laurence Sattler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anders Kamp in the 13th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Sportfreunde King's goal looked a bit too open when Anders Kamp came free, but Laurence Sattler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Lothar Hach's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olaf Peekhaus was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Olaf Landgraf struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Laurence Sattler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lokomotiv USSR. Laurence Sattler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anders Kamp in the 28th minute of play. Olaf Landgraf might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Laurence Sattler. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olaf Landgraf ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Sportfreunde King booed when Lokomotiv USSR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anders Kamp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olaf Landgraf blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Laurence Sattler having to make a save. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Lothar Hach made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Anders Kamp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laurence Sattler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 58 minutes, Friedrich von Dreusche mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lokomotiv USSR and the Sportfreunde King players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th match minute, Lokomotiv USSR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Friedrich von Dreusche to maneuver through the defense. After 60 played minutes, Sportfreunde King's Drees Bornscheuer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Olaf Peekhaus came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sportfreunde King reached it. After 93 played minutes Sportfreunde King got a freekick which was hit by Felix Sawitzki. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
