But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clint Knipprath couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Herriehausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmus Viehl didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilhelm Blecken made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Adolf Pfau sent off a good shot on target. If Martin Kwast had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. After 33 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Toni Berlingen. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Florian Kobel during the 40th minute. Erasmus Viehl's late challenge caught a Borussia Dortmund's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Borussia Dortmund were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
