But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ilja Ströbele couldn't finish the play. Hergen Iggelheimer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernhard Nordemann, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Hergen Iggelheimer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernhard Nordemann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Egidius Austin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piast's supporters rose to their feet, but Egidius Austin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 28th minute, Egidius Austin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Egidius Austin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Christer Mühlstein made a huge save. Nuri Kratz hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

FC 1701's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernhard Nordemann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Christer Mühlstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egidius Austin in the 83rd minute of the match. When Ron Stöckle fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piast's protests and gave Ron Stöckle a yellow card for diving instead.
