Bersonia Stadium
Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) AC Bersonia's Jörg Tamali started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Eintracht Frankfurt's Kurt-Jürgen Riek-Nagy got a free kick in the 2nd minute. If Philipp Drews had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joerg-Uwe Hubert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 11 minutes, Alwin Kremmers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AC Bersonia and the Eintracht Frankfurt players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Eintracht Frankfurt booed when AC Bersonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alwin Kremmers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Torben Weigelt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AC Bersonia's Artur Mark played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ingvar Heintz in the 15th minute of play. When Karol Richters fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Bersonia's protests and gave Karol Richters a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes AC Bersonia got a freekick which was hit by Karol Richters. After recieving a nice pass, Eintracht Frankfurt's Ingvar Heintz tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ingvar Heintz in the 22nd minute of play forced AC Bersonia's goalkeeper Artur Mark to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Scherhag showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joerg-Uwe Hubert in the 26th minute of the match. After 29 played minutes Eintracht Frankfurt got a freekick which was hit by Ingvar Heintz. Philipp Drews charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Philipp Drews the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Philipp Drews hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Erik Scherhag took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joerg-Uwe Hubert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jörg Tamali in the 34th minute of play forced Eintracht Frankfurt's goalkeeper Erik Scherhag to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joerg-Uwe Hubert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, AC Bersonia's Erik Scherhag threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joerg-Uwe Hubert, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 41 minutes, Eusebius Hammer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Eintracht Frankfurt and the AC Bersonia players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eusebius Hammer hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. With his leg Erik Scherhag managed to avoid a goal in the 42ndth minute, when AC Bersonia's Joerg-Uwe Hubert fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jörg Tamali's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Scherhag read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. If Jörg Tamali had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ingvar Heintz to make the kick off. Erik Scherhag showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joerg-Uwe Hubert, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 55th match minute, AC Bersonia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gideon Hartwig to maneuver through the defense. 62 minutes into the match, AC Bersonia's Jörg Tamali sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erik Scherhag narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eintracht Frankfurt's Erik Scherhag played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joerg-Uwe Hubert in the 72nd minute of play. In the 75th minute, Philipp Drews left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The AC Bersonia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Nils Thönnes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, AC Bersonia's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Heintz came free, but Artur Mark reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joerg-Uwe Hubert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Erik Scherhag tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
