Claus Rockstein stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ingo Middelberg's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. In the 23rd minute, Olav Ginsberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eckard Jung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claus Rockstein having to interfere. The supporters of Lobenstein booed when Schkölen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henning Meist didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Wyes in the 36th minute of play forced Lobenstein's goalkeeper Franz-Peter Käppele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Henning Meist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Schkölen's supporters rose to their feet, but Henning Meist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Franz-Peter Käppele breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lobenstein's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
