The supporters of Nüttel FC booed when Borussia Mönchengladbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domian Abd el Farrag didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the match, Borussia Mönchengladbach's goal looked a bit too open when Vlado Naud came free, but Philipp Wendland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Herbert Bruhn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gerd Trumpf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Philipp Wendland took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vlado Naud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Vlado Naud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Vlado Naud made the kick off in the second half. Gerd Trumpf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Heiko Hennicke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosmo Venekamp having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, Borussia Mönchengladbach's goal looked a bit too open when Vlado Naud came free, but Philipp Wendland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Heiko Hennicke sped through Nüttel FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Cosmo Venekamp. After some careless play in the Nüttel FC defense, Gerd Trumpf kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cosmo Venekamp. The Nüttel FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cosmo Venekamp should have stopped the shot. After having played for 68 minutes, Heiko Hennicke managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vlado Naud couldn't finish the play. After 93 minutes of play, Borussia Mönchengladbach's Heiko Hennicke made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cosmo Venekamp was left in no man's land by his defense there! Borussia Mönchengladbach's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
