After 29 played minutes FC Chelsea Cottbus got a freekick which was hit by Nemo Baumgartner. Eduard Siegert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Henrico Bluhm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerard Hunold got his second yellow card in the match during the 38th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Michael Schraier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eike Baumeister in the 45th minute of the match. Michael Schraier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eike Baumeister in the 48th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Michael Schraier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 85 minutes into the match, Alfons Müseler notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of 1.FC Union Berlin's Michael Schraier.
