After a rather tough play, Süderhof's Fritz Rebe got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 21stth minute of the game Werner Korff who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Süderhof's Hansjürgen Nikoleit was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. FC Hawaii's Werner Korff got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Werner Korff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hansjürgen Nikoleit showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Werner Korff in the 37th minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Süderhof fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave FC Hawaii a penalty, 43 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Petrus Räder, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Süderhof's Hansjürgen Nikoleit. 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, Werner Korff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 59 played minutes Süderhof got a freekick which was hit by Levent Krögner. Nikolaus Cayrol could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Hansjürgen Nikoleit made a huge save. Paulus Fechner kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Hawaii booed when Süderhof was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fritz Rebe didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Hawaii's Werner Korff got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Werner Korff struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Hansjürgen Nikoleit didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Hawaii. In the 82nd minute, Ronald Sieger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paulus Fechner charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
