Kuno Schmidt started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Die Nordländer booed when Burghof was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Riether didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of Burghof:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Die Nordländer:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in Die Nordländer's zone, Lutz Budden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sepp Kammholz came out of the goal and Lutz Budden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kuno Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gerald Heine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute Carsten Strothmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerald Heine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carsten Strothmann in the 39th minute of play forced Burghof's goalkeeper Gerald Heine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 47 played minutes Die Nordländer got a freekick which was hit by Kuno Schmidt.

Carsten Strothmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albert Saßmannshausen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 68th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sepp Kammholz. Die Nordländer's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Lutz Budden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Lutz Budden got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rdth minute of the game Kostja Trumpf who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Die Nordländer's Sepp Kammholz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Budden in the 86th minute of play forced Die Nordländer's goalkeeper Sepp Kammholz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sepp Kammholz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kostja Trumpf in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the game, Kostja Trumpf cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Sepp Kammholz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 96th minute Lutz Budden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sepp Kammholz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
