TSG Hoffenheim's Leon Schütz started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Christen Rehnen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chris Nettig. TSG Hoffenheim's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christen Rehnen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Urban in the 6th minute of play. A collision led to TSG Hoffenheim getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Gunther Schamaitis hit a great ball. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christen Rehnen in the 11th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Götz Krefft had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Chris Nettig. TSG Hoffenheim's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Götz Krefft was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. A collision led to Vordersteig getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Matthias Urban hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leon Schütz in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Daniel Korbel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leon Schütz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chris Nettig showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matthias Urban in the 24th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulli Jucknischke during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 28th match minute, TSG Hoffenheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulli Jucknischke to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joerg-Uwe Caesar in the 29th minute of play forced TSG Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Chris Nettig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 32 minutes of play TSG Hoffenheim's Ulli Jucknischke was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 33 played minutes TSG Hoffenheim got a freekick which was hit by Ulli Jucknischke. Chris Nettig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christen Rehnen in the 35th minute of play. After some careless play in the TSG Hoffenheim defense, Götz Krefft kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chris Nettig. The TSG Hoffenheim fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chris Nettig should have stopped the shot. After 42 minutes of play, Vordersteig's Sigi Steinki made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chris Nettig was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 44th minute Sigi Steinki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chris Nettig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Götz Krefft in the 45th minute of play. Chris Nettig came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Vordersteig's Matthias Urban. But to his dismay, Matthias Urban quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Disappointed in the 0-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christen Rehnen to strike the kick off in the second half. Chris Nettig made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sven Bühlert in the 55th minute. Ralph Ehlers received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Chris Nettig came out and tried to block the shot, but Ralph Ehlers slotted it home off the left post making it 0-7 in the 56th minute. In the 60th minute, Leo Merczak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save TSG Hoffenheim from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christen Rehnen in the 63rd minute of play forced TSG Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Chris Nettig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christen Rehnen in the 65th minute of play. Chris Nettig made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Matthias Urban sent off a good shot on target. 76 minutes into the game, Christen Rehnen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Chris Nettig. Christen Rehnen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matthias Urban got free with Chris Nettig in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. TSG Hoffenheim's Chris Nettig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christen Rehnen in the 82nd minute of play. In the 93rd minute, one of TSG Hoffenheim:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for TSG Hoffenheim. The score was 0-9 after a penalty in the 95th minute, where Vordersteig:s Joerg-Uwe Caesar tricked TSG Hoffenheim:s Chris Nettig with a difficult ball by the left post.
