Jonathan Benkel hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Hamm's Udo Harpain slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Theo Aumüller. That made the score 2-1 after 16 minutes of play. Bielefelder Jungs's Theo Aumüller played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conrad Böhm in the 24th minute of play. Arian Tremmel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leon Artmann in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 38th match minute, Hamm was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Udo Harpain to maneuver through the defense. Jockel Scheffczyk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Theo Aumüller made a huge save. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Theo Aumüller showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jockel Scheffczyk, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Leon Artmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the match, Dennis Scholl notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Hamm's Arian Tremmel. Arian Tremmel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 66th minute, Stefan Jahr got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Arian Tremmel managed to avoid a goal in the 69thth minute, when Bielefelder Jungs's Uwe Cremer fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 72nd minute Leon Artmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arian Tremmel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes into the match, Jockel Scheffczyk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Theo Aumüller. Bielefelder Jungs's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jockel Scheffczyk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. After 85 played minutes Bielefelder Jungs got a freekick which was hit by Gerald Lingnau. Theo Aumüller showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Udo Harpain in the 87th minute of the match. Conrad Böhm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Udo Harpain recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Despite being the better team, Hamm failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
