Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Leon Artmann made the kick off and thus started the match. Theo Aumüller made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stefan Jahr in the 4th minute of play. In the 5th minute Udo Harpain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theo Aumüller saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 8thth minute of the game Jockel Scheffczyk who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bielefelder Jungs's Theo Aumüller was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Hamm booed when Bielefelder Jungs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Plischke didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Adnan Schwunk fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hamm's protests and gave Adnan Schwunk a yellow card for diving instead. Arian Tremmel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Uwe Cremer in the 14th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leon Artmann in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arian Tremmel saved Hamm from getting behind. Jockel Scheffczyk recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stefan Jahr in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Theo Aumüller prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With an all-out effort, Bielefelder Jungs's Arian Tremmel threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jonas Plischke, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 28 minutes into the match, Hamm's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Plischke came free, but Arian Tremmel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Hamm's goalkeeper Arian Tremmel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Uwe Cremer. In the 31st minute Leon Artmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arian Tremmel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Hamm's Costa Deisler got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 43rd minute, Udo Harpain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Hamm's Arian Tremmel got control of the ball when Uwe Cremer tried to sneak it across the goal line.

In the 77th minute Leon Artmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arian Tremmel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Theo Aumüller made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stefan Jahr in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uwe Cremer in the 84th minute of play forced Hamm's goalkeeper Arian Tremmel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Bielefelder Jungs booed when Hamm was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conrad Böhm didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bielefelder Jungs's Theo Aumüller played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jockel Scheffczyk in the 86th minute of play. Hamm's Udo Harpain couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 89th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Bielefelder Jungs. Udo Harpain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Theo Aumüller tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Hamm had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
