Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Elmer Zepek took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Ralph Nieberg fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Opperz's protests and gave Ralph Nieberg a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Opperz getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Ralph Nieberg hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franz Hasselbach in the 13th minute of play forced Opperz's goalkeeper Gregor Thorbrügge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gregor Thorbrügge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Franz Hasselbach in the 14th minute of the match. Ralph Nieberg hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Elmer Zepek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christoph Schardt having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Elmer Zepek dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Christoph Schardt, 1-2. 34 minutes into the match, Franz Hasselbach had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gregor Thorbrügge. Opperz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Franz Hasselbach was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Silvio Krumbein's late challenge caught a MSV Duisburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Silvio Krumbein helped the player get up and apologised. Silvio Krumbein hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Franz Hasselbach recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ralph Nieberg was shown his second yellow card after 44 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Opperz's Ralph Nieberg got a free kick in the 45th minute. Gregor Thorbrügge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Battista Pechkopf in the 46th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Franz Hasselbach to make the kick off. Gregor Thorbrügge made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Jonathan Hofmann sent off a good shot on target. If Battista Pechkopf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elmer Zepek's late challenge caught a MSV Duisburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elmer Zepek helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd minute, Elmer Zepek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Battista Pechkopf managed to get in a good position for a shot. MSV Duisburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Battista Pechkopf was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gregor Thorbrügge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to MSV Duisburg getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Leandros Jahn hit a great ball. 70 minutes into the match, Silvio Krumbein had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christoph Schardt. MSV Duisburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Silvio Krumbein was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. 74 minutes into the match, Battista Pechkopf dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gregor Thorbrügge, 2-4. In the 80th match minute, Opperz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elmer Zepek to maneuver through the defense. Leandros Jahn was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 81st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. With his leg Gregor Thorbrügge managed to avoid a goal in the 85thth minute, when MSV Duisburg's Battista Pechkopf fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 92 minutes, Birger Pfützner mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MSV Duisburg and the Opperz players grew even worse after the yellow card. Silvio Krumbein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. MSV Duisburg walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
