Theo Schwaiger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edbert Köffer in the 15th minute of play. Gottlieb Kohl hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the match, DJK Villingen's goal looked a bit too open when Edbert Köffer came free, but Theo Schwaiger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Red Bull Augsburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Wolf Meckenstock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theo Schwaiger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to DJK Villingen getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Einar Kuypers hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the match, Red Bull Augsburg's Wolf Meckenstock sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Theo Schwaiger narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dolf Bartelt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anton Walcher having to interfere. Jesko Heintel was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. DJK Villingen's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. DJK Villingen's Theo Schwaiger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edbert Köffer in the 48th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edbert Köffer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes, Gottlieb Kohl mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the DJK Villingen and the Red Bull Augsburg players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gottlieb Kohl kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Gottlieb Kohl was shown his second yellow card after 82 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 86 played minutes DJK Villingen got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin Kipker. DJK Villingen's Theo Schwaiger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save DJK Villingen from getting a goal against them. The Red Bull Augsburg players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
