In the 8th minute, Kasimir Koller hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee ignored Wierthe FSV's protests and gave Stefan Görmann a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Wierthe FSV getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Stefan Görmann hit a great ball. The supporters of Sönnern booed when Wierthe FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Femke Wahlberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Focko Wessendorf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edbert Heiermann in the 13th minute of the match. After having played for 18 minutes, Wim Gehlen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wierthe FSV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wim Gehlen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Edbert Heiermann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edbert Heiermann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Focko Wessendorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michael Fekecs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kasimir Koller in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute Edbert Heiermann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Focko Wessendorf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the match, Wim Gehlen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Michael Fekecs. Sönnern's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wim Gehlen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 31 minutes into the match, Sönnern's goal looked a bit too open when Kasimir Koller came free, but Michael Fekecs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michael Fekecs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Gehlen in the 34th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Kasimir Koller cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Michael Fekecs was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 44th minute Wim Gehlen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Fekecs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kasimir Koller to strike the kick off in the second half. Kasimir Koller blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Michael Fekecs having to make a save. Michael Fekecs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kasimir Koller, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. After a rather tough play, Sönnern's Edbert Heiermann got a free kick in the 58th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Sönnern's zone, Kasimir Koller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Michael Fekecs came out of the goal and Kasimir Koller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Michael Fekecs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kasimir Koller, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sönnern's goalkeeper Michael Fekecs, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edbert Heiermann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wim Gehlen might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Michael Fekecs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wim Gehlen ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Kasimir Koller's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Fekecs was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. Focko Wessendorf came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Sönnern's Edbert Heiermann. But to his dismay, Edbert Heiermann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Wierthe FSV's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
