Spectators: 7481 (Terracing: 5612, Seating: 1720, VIP seats: 149) 1.SSV Heimelf's Helmut Schindler started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, 1.SSV Heimelf's Björn Riester nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lester Freeh made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Emanuel Smieszek's late challenge caught a 1.SSV Heimelf's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emanuel Smieszek helped the player get up and apologised. The audience was convinced that Helmut Schindler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lester Freeh was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Tommaso Hörnes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Smieszek in the 10th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicolai Fritz in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommaso Hörnes saved 1.SSV Heimelf from getting behind. In the 14th minute Christoph Bauer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommaso Hörnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Helmut Schindler in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lester Freeh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Helmut Schindler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lester Freeh having to interfere. Willibald Bannert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Tommaso Hörnes made a huge save. Sandro Zötzsche kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Willibald Bannert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Tommaso Hörnes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Björn Riester sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44thth minute of the game Helmut Schindler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Husen-Kurl's Lester Freeh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Björn Riester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lester Freeh having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Helmut Schindler in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lester Freeh saved Husen-Kurl from getting behind. Engelbert Beckmeyer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Lester Freeh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Helmut Schindler in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lester Freeh saved Husen-Kurl from getting behind. Björn Riester struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Lester Freeh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for 1.SSV Heimelf. Engelbert Beckmeyer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lester Freeh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Helmut Schindler in the 70th minute. Björn Riester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lester Freeh having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Husen-Kurl's goal looked a bit too open when Helmut Schindler came free, but Lester Freeh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 78 played minutes, 1.SSV Heimelf's Anno Kaminski shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lester Freeh came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in 1.SSV Heimelf reached it. Helmut Schindler had several of the Husen-Kurl's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 80 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Lester Freeh as he didn't even see the shot coming. 1.SSV Heimelf's Björn Riester broke free in the 84th minute of the match and struck a powerful long shot that almost became a goal, but instead the ball went outside the right post. An obvious chance of a goal. Willibald Bannert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 1.SSV Heimelf's Josef Hinz shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 95th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Lester Freeh but with some difficulty. Helmut Schindler who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Lester Freeh when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Engelbert Beckmeyer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lester Freeh having to interfere. When the match was over 1.SSV Heimelf could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Husen-Kurl throughout the match.
