Seating: 1739, VIP seats: 151) In the 4th minute, Anselm Brenner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 5 played minutes Gengenbacher FC got a freekick which was hit by Hagen Knodel. Edmund Kugler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldemar Aust, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After 10 played minutes Gengenbacher FC got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Aust. Johannes Gronau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heiko Blachstein having to interfere. In the 14th minute, Valérien Schrembs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute, Takeshi Lank got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th minute, Waldemar Aust got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 24 played minutes, Gengenbacher FC's Anton Kirchner shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edmund Kugler came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gengenbacher FC reached it. A collision led to VfB Stuttgart getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Anselm Brenner hit a great ball. Heiko Blachstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Takeshi Lank in the 28th minute. Konstantin Gradistanac recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edmund Kugler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hagen Knodel, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 33rd minute, Konstantin Gradistanac left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gengenbacher FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anselm Brenner during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 36 played minutes VfB Stuttgart got a freekick which was hit by Anselm Brenner. Konstantin Gradistanac blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmund Kugler having to make a save. 37 minutes into the match, Waldemar Aust had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edmund Kugler. VfB Stuttgart's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Waldemar Aust was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Konstantin Gradistanac's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmund Kugler read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Konstantin Gradistanac took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edmund Kugler. Edmund Kugler dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Takeshi Lank in the 46th minute of play forced Gengenbacher FC's goalkeeper Heiko Blachstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anselm Brenner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Konstantin Gradistanac to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, VfB Stuttgart's goal looked a bit too open when Konstantin Gradistanac came free, but Edmund Kugler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute of the match, Diego Kläser got a very nice opportunity to score, but Edmund Kugler was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Heiko Blachstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Takeshi Lank, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Waldemar Aust put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Edmund Kugler. If Konstantin Gradistanac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 70 minutes into the game, Konstantin Gradistanac was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gengenbacher FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VfB Stuttgart the free kick. Takeshi Lank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gengenbacher FC's Heiko Blachstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Takeshi Lank in the 79th minute of play. After 79 minutes, Hagen Knodel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gengenbacher FC and the VfB Stuttgart players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Gengenbacher FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Hagen Knodel hit a great ball. If Konstantin Gradistanac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edmund Kugler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Waldemar Aust went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. After having played for 85 minutes, Theodor Dettmar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VfB Stuttgart's supporters crossed their fingers, but Theodor Dettmar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, VfB Stuttgart's Edmund Kugler got control of the ball when Waldemar Aust tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 93rd minute Konstantin Gradistanac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Kugler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmund Kugler was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Konstantin Gradistanac capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Konstantin Gradistanac really showed his touch with that goal: 1-6.
