Spectators: 7513 (Terracing: 5651, Seating: 1732, VIP seats: 130) Brehna's Lutger von der Beck started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th match minute, Brehna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Johannes-Markus Howeg to maneuver through the defense. Romano Burgmeier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Einar Sell in the 12th minute of play. Romano Burgmeier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raul Stradt, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After having played for 21 minutes, Eike Dammer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Hannover's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eike Dammer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Romano Burgmeier came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Brehna's Lutger von der Beck. But to his dismay, Lutger von der Beck quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. A collision led to Brehna getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Thorbjörn Mies hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hardi Feistl during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Hannover's Achim Janssen slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sven Fechter. That made the score 1-1 after 40 minutes of play. Sven Fechter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eike Dammer in the 43rd minute. When FC Hannover's Eike Dammer in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brehna's goalie prevented a goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eike Dammer to make the kick off. Hartmut Möller blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sven Fechter having to make a save. Eike Dammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sven Fechter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eike Dammer in the 56th minute of play. After 66 minutes, Achim Janssen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Hannover and the Brehna players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Brehna booed when FC Hannover was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Achim Janssen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 67 played minutes, Brehna's Mladen Karwath shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Romano Burgmeier came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Brehna reached it. In the 70th minute, Eike Dammer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Hannover fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Friedbert Hemling struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Sven Fechter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Hannover. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Eike Dammer managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Hannover's supporters rose to their feet, but Eike Dammer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sven Fechter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Hannover's Sebastian Sailer was substituted for Eike Dammer. When Sebastian Sailer fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Hannover's protests and gave Sebastian Sailer a yellow card for diving instead. After 90 played minutes Brehna got a freekick which was hit by Einar Sell. After 92 minutes, Sebastian Sailer made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Brehna's Sven Fechter tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. FC Hannover's Romano Burgmeier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lutger von der Beck in the 98th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Hannover fully deserved thier win.
