Charlie Mücke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Larry Schira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 8th minute Josef Zielonka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Larry Schira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Otze defense, Josef Zielonka kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Larry Schira. The Otze fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Larry Schira should have stopped the shot. In the 14th minute, Werner Fock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute of the match Slavko Schönert shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Till Poll showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Till Poll showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ebbo Heite in the 23rd minute of the match. Charlie Mücke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Charlie Mücke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Larry Schira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Otze's goalkeeper Larry Schira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Charlie Mücke. When Joschi Rögele fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Otze's protests and gave Joschi Rögele a yellow card for diving instead. In the 39th minute, Charlie Mücke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Lokomotive Leipzig's Charlie Mücke sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Larry Schira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Josef Zielonka blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Larry Schira having to make a save. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lemmy Brandner was the one to do the kick off. If Charlie Mücke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute Josef Zielonka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Larry Schira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Josef Zielonka in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Larry Schira saved Otze from getting behind. Charlie Mücke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Josef Zielonka's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Larry Schira was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. If Ebbo Heite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Charlie Mücke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Larry Schira having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Mücke in the 78th minute of play forced Otze's goalkeeper Larry Schira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Charlie Mücke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Josef Zielonka managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lokomotive Leipzig's supporters rose to their feet, but Josef Zielonka was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Larry Schira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Josef Zielonka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Otze's Larry Schira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Mücke in the 87th minute of play. Larry Schira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charlie Mücke, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. When Slavko Schönert fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Otze's protests and gave Slavko Schönert a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Otze fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty! Larry Schira went to the wrong direction when Gerald Stockbauer was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Gerald Stockbauer sped through Otze's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Larry Schira. Larry Schira came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Lokomotive Leipzig's Charlie Mücke. But to his dismay, Charlie Mücke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Lokomotive Leipzig had played much better football throughout.
