The FC Hannover fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when FC Hannover's Eike Dammer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Christoph Frischmuth fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Laim United's protests and gave Christoph Frischmuth a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th match minute, Laim United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christoph Frischmuth to maneuver through the defense. After 8 minutes, Eike Dammer made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Laim United's Hilbert Rabiega tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Friedbert Hemling might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hilbert Rabiega. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Friedbert Hemling ran back to his position shaking his head. Hilbert Rabiega took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Friedbert Hemling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Eike Dammer sped through Laim United's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Hilbert Rabiega. Eike Dammer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eike Dammer in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hilbert Rabiega prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 29 minutes into the game, Eike Dammer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Hilbert Rabiega was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 39 minutes into the match, Eike Dammer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hilbert Rabiega. Laim United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eike Dammer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christoph Frischmuth in the 44th minute of play forced FC Hannover's goalkeeper Romano Burgmeier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 46th minute, Friedbert Hemling made a precise shot to the right of Hilbert Rabiega. Laim United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Laim United's goalkeeper Hilbert Rabiega, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 60th minute Jindrich Münstermann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hilbert Rabiega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79thth minute of the game Eike Dammer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Laim United's Hilbert Rabiega was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Henning Biskup sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sebastian Sailer in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hilbert Rabiega saved Laim United from getting behind. Sebastian Sailer received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hilbert Rabiega came out and tried to block the shot, but Sebastian Sailer slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 86th minute. Sebastian Sailer's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 90thth minute, Hilbert Rabiega skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Laim United's Hilbert Rabiega proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Laim United from getting a goal against them. Sebastian Sailer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Laim United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Hannover were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
