Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Gordon Schipploch kicked off to start the match. Emil Schöpf's late challenge caught a Esens's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emil Schöpf helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Karlsruher SC's Emil Schöpf got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Gordon Schipploch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Gordon Schipploch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gordon Schipploch struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Eugen Gelb didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esens. After having played for 19 minutes, Gordon Schipploch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esens's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gordon Schipploch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Conni Tetzner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute, Albert Konietzny hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Esens's Rachid Kilz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eugen Gelb narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Karlsruher SC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Holger Wohlert hit a great ball. Gordon Schipploch scored 1-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eugen Gelb, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 33 minutes, Simon Habibi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Esens and the Karlsruher SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Josef Trachsel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adam Reichwein having to make a save. Rachid Kilz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Gelb having to interfere. Karlsruher SC's Eugen Gelb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordon Schipploch in the 56th minute of play. Esens were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after Karlsruher SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Derek Utzig took the corner. After taking down the ball on Esens's corner Derek Utzig fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eugen Gelb quite easily take care of the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Rachid Kilz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eugen Gelb. Karlsruher SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rachid Kilz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Eugen Gelb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rachid Kilz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rachid Kilz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Eugen Gelb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gordon Schipploch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Gelb having to interfere. Adam Reichwein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conni Tetzner in the 82nd minute of play. Conni Tetzner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Adam Reichwein made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Josef Trachsel sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 92 minutes, Rachid Kilz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esens's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rachid Kilz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th match minute, Karlsruher SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Kant to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute of the match Derek Utzig shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eugen Gelb showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. There was no doubt that Esens were the better team. Esens's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
