After 19 played minutes, Vachendorf's Kasimir Achterbusch shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Anthony Barges came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Vachendorf reached it. Anthony Barges made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thaddäus Schwerdt in the 20th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Vachendorf's August Dotz got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Alfons Mannschatz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haltern 08's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfons Mannschatz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Egon Mügge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dominik Döll hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Edzard Meininger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Haltern 08's Alfons Mannschatz got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anthony Barges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erik Arslan, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 52nd minute, one of Haltern 08:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Haltern 08. A collision led to Vachendorf getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Shingo Räder hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfons Mannschatz in the 59th minute of play forced Vachendorf's goalkeeper Egon Mügge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 61 minutes, Erik Arslan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vachendorf's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erik Arslan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfons Mannschatz might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Egon Mügge. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfons Mannschatz ran back to his position shaking his head. Erik Arslan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Barges having to interfere. Anthony Barges didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 71st minute, which inside left pole to 0-2.
