In the 2nd match minute, Karlsruhe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ture Anton to maneuver through the defense. Fritz Bayer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Siegfried Hegekötter's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. Fritz Bayer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heini Glomb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Karlsruhe FC booed when Johannesvorstadt FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonard Zuckerstätter didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Heini Glomb managed to get in a good position for a shot. Karlsruhe FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Heini Glomb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fritz Bayer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fritz Bayer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heini Glomb in the 15th minute of play. Heini Glomb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 23 minutes, Heini Glomb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Karlsruhe FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Heini Glomb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Siegfried Hegekötter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heini Glomb kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 31st match minute, Johannesvorstadt FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neo Balluff to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute, Heini Glomb ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fritz Bayer was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Heini Glomb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Siegfried Hegekötter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fritz Bayer having to interfere. Heini Glomb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Fritz Bayer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Heini Glomb to make the kick off. Fritz Bayer came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Karlsruhe FC's Siegfried Hegekötter. But to his dismay, Siegfried Hegekötter quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 63 minutes into the match, Johannesvorstadt FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Heini Glomb came free, but Fritz Bayer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th match minute, Karlsruhe FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bengt Heuzeroth to maneuver through the defense. Heini Glomb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fritz Bayer having to interfere. Leonard Zuckerstätter hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Siegfried Hegekötter's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Fritz Bayer skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Wim Brante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hansel Vortkamp having to interfere. 78 minutes into the game, Karlsruhe FC's Thorsten Kuster nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fritz Bayer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Heini Glomb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heini Glomb in the 89th minute of play forced Johannesvorstadt FSV's goalkeeper Fritz Bayer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Siegfried Hegekötter left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Karlsruhe FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. The crowd rose to their feet as Heini Glomb kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fritz Bayer. That made the score 0-6 in the 95 minute of play. Karlsruhe FC played a much better game than Johannesvorstadt FSV and deserved their victory. The Johannesvorstadt FSV players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
