The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Goth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ture Seligmann having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Mladen Huthreuter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of 1.FC Köln booed when Holsener SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedikt Lötzer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bartolomeo Walter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ture Seligmann having to interfere. Ture Seligmann came out of the goal and Mladen Huthreuter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Holsener SV were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mladen Huthreuter to strike the kick off in the second half. If Bartolomeo Walter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Holsener SV getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Benedikt Lötzer hit a great ball. Bartolomeo Walter scored 1-1 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ture Seligmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
