Spectators: 7214 (Terracing: 5589, Seating: 1575, VIP seats: 50) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Marco Lemke kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the game, Jerome Heerckes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gelsenkirchen United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Neppenkamp FC the free kick. In the 3rd minute, Jerome Heerckes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jerome Heerckes struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Wim Sahr didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gelsenkirchen United. Jo Fuhl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julius Podella in the 7th minute of play. Marco Lemke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jo Fuhl having to interfere. After some careless play in the Gelsenkirchen United defense, Marco Lemke kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jo Fuhl. The Gelsenkirchen United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jo Fuhl should have stopped the shot. In the 33rd minute, Gelsenkirchen United's Jerome Heerckes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Jo Fuhl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niklaus Petzold in the 47th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jerome Heerckes to make the kick off. Jo Fuhl made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Klemens Bartels sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Gelsenkirchen United's zone, Klemens Bartels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jo Fuhl came out of the goal and Klemens Bartels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Gelsenkirchen United's Jerome Heerckes got a free kick in the 55th minute. After 56 played minutes Neppenkamp FC got a freekick which was hit by Klemens Bartels. In the 64th minute Klemens Bartels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jo Fuhl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Marco Lemke managed to get in a good position for a shot. Neppenkamp FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marco Lemke was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jo Fuhl breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Dario Langhammer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Neppenkamp FC defense, Dario Langhammer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wim Sahr. The Neppenkamp FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wim Sahr should have stopped the shot. After 94 minutes of play, Neppenkamp FC's Marco Lemke made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jo Fuhl was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Neppenkamp FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
