The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Jürg Frosch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduard Breddermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederik Riester in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eduard Breddermann, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Sami Blumenthal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sami Blumenthal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Schön having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Frederik Riester left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Rügen 02 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Frederik Riester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 played minutes FC Hansa Rostock got a freekick which was hit by Leif Hentrop. Frederik Riester came free with the goalkeeper in the 34th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Eduard Breddermann could save by the left post. Jürg Frosch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Eduard Breddermann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, FC Hansa Rostock's Eduard Breddermann got control of the ball when Frederik Riester tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 39 played minutes FC Hansa Rostock got a freekick which was hit by Hauke Brouwer. 41 minutes in the game, Frederik Riester fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Eduard Breddermann having to interfere. Jürg Frosch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. FC Rügen 02's Jan Schön played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lutz Grohganz in the 44th minute of play. Jan Schön made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sami Blumenthal in the 46th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jürg Frosch to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Frederik Riester notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of FC Hansa Rostock's Eduard Breddermann. Eduard Breddermann was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 56th minute, Leif Hentrop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 57 minutes into the game, Frederik Riester cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Eduard Breddermann was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 61 minutes of play, FC Rügen 02's Frederik Riester made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eduard Breddermann was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Jürg Frosch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduard Breddermann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jürg Frosch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eduard Breddermann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frederik Riester in the 68th minute of the match. When Lutz Grohganz fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Hansa Rostock's protests and gave Lutz Grohganz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Hansa Rostock's Lutz Grohganz got a free kick in the 75th minute. Konrad Güssgen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jürg Frosch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Sami Blumenthal kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jan Schön. That made the score 4-1 in the 79 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jürg Frosch in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduard Breddermann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to FC Hansa Rostock getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Eitel Lohrmann hit a great ball. Gert Blaumüller's late challenge caught a FC Hansa Rostock's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gert Blaumüller helped the player get up and apologised. Jürg Frosch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Eduard Breddermann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FC Rügen 02's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
